How to use this Markdown editor
- Type Markdown in the left box (on a phone, the Write tab). The preview on the right updates on every keystroke.
- Use the notes drawer to keep several drafts; the first line, usually a heading, is the title.
- Download the source as .md, or press Copy HTML to paste the rendered markup into a CMS, an email or a static site.
What this Markdown editor supports
The renderer is deliberately small: it handles the syntax people actually type in notes, and nothing that needs a spec lawyer. This is the whole list.

This is a small Markdown subset, not a full CommonMark or GitHub renderer. Tables, images, footnotes and task-list checkboxes are unsupported. Lists render at one level; nested indentation is not preserved. Raw HTML is escaped, and links accept only http, https, mailto and relative targets. Review exported HTML in the system where you use it, especially if that system transforms the markup.
Export as .md or copy the HTML
Download gives you a UTF-8 .md file named after the first line, which any editor, GitHub, Obsidian or a static-site generator will open. Copy HTML puts the rendered markup on the clipboard: plain <h2>, <p>, <ul> and <pre> elements without inline styles or extra wrappers. Fenced code can include a language class, such as language-js, for the destination site to style.
Why a live preview instead of a formatting toolbar
Rich-text editors hide their state: a stray bold run or a heading that is secretly a paragraph with big text only shows up when you paste it somewhere else. Markdown is the state, and it is visible. The preview is there to confirm, not to edit, which is why it is read-only and why the source stays a plain textarea that works with every keyboard shortcut and screen reader your browser already has.

Are Markdown notes saved?
Yes, the same way as the plain notepad: to the browser's localStorage, about 300 ms after you pause. Markdown notes are kept in their own list so they do not mix with plain-text notes.
Which Markdown syntax is supported?
Headings, paragraphs, bold, italic, inline code, fenced code blocks, links, bulleted and numbered lists, blockquotes and horizontal rules. Tables, images and footnotes are not supported. Lists render at one level; nested indentation is not preserved. The original Markdown still exports unchanged.
Is the copied HTML safe to paste into a website?
The renderer escapes any raw HTML in your note before applying Markdown, links only accept http, https, mailto and relative targets, and every link carries rel="noopener noreferrer". It outputs plain elements without inline styles. Fenced code blocks may include a language class, such as language-js.
Can I share a Markdown note?
Yes. Open Share, enter your name and a note name, then publish a public copy at a memorable link. Readers see the formatted note. Reopen Share in the original browser to publish changes or unpublish it. Older fragment links still work.
Does it work offline?
The editor and preview work offline after the first visit. Publishing, updating, unpublishing, and opening public notes require an internet connection.
Why is there no formatting toolbar?
Markdown is the toolbar. Typing two asterisks is faster than reaching for a button, and the preview shows the result immediately. The syntax table above covers everything the renderer understands.
